Domaine du Mont d’Arbois

Even if you only have half as many millions in your portfolio this winter as you did last winter, why not spend a little with the Baron Benjamin de Rothschild at his B&B in the French ski resort Megeve?
His Domaine du Mont d’Arbois offers many accommodation choices, but why not book the first floor Baronne Noemie Suite for a week for 24,000 Euros ($31,072) to really please the him. Should you tire of the usual skiing activities, try snow golf, or snow polo. Hungry? You’ll be able to choose from the baron’s six lunch and dining spots on and off the slopes, including the gastronomic Restaurant du Chalet and less formal La Taverne and Auberge de la Cote 2000, all offering Savoyard cuisine.
I can’t imagine where the value is in this price tag. If you are out skiing or shopping for a few hours a day, sleeping for a few hours a night, and eating for at least another hour or two a day, what are you getting for your 30 g’s to fill the remaining few hours a day? Sure there is a spa, indoor and outdoor pool, soaking tubs, king sized beds, soft sofas and armchairs, cashmere fabrics, beautiful views… all things that are pretty standard at inns costing a fraction as much.
Perhaps this establishment is the very definition of a Veblen good.
