The Ultimate Ski Lodge?

Thinking of staying at the ultimate luxury ski lodge? There’s a lot of competition, but The Hotel de Charme Les Airelles in Courcheval France is perhaps the ultimate in price anyway. Much Googling failed to turn up a bonafide room rate card, so perhaps this is a place where if you have to ask you know you can’t afford it. Rumor has it that Prince William and girlfriend Kate stay here. Back during the 1992 Albertville Winter Olympics, it was the home base for the International Olympic Committee and we know those well heeled folks would not settle for second best at their quadrennial fete.

The recently completed $51 million renovation must have been a heck of an upgrade. Its hard to imagine $51 million lavished on hotel with only 37 guest rooms and 14 suites, but looking at pictures of this place, half that amount might have gone straight into the pockets of interior decorators.

I’m sure real royalty (not just IOC Olympic royalty) will feel quiet at home here. It looks like the ritzist places in American skidom have far to go to match this slope side resort’s sumptuousness.  Here’s a sampling from  Transworld Business of the what the  Hotel de Charme now offers: The five-star ski resort has hosted royalty and the world’s most illustrious guests and debuts the largest apartment suite in Courchevel. This luxurious 5,900 square-foot four-bedroom accommodation sits atop the fourth floor of the hotel, featuring a private Spa, sound proof screening room and a stunning terrace with a whirlpool bath overlooking the French Alps.

Aspen, Vail, Beaver Creek, Deer Valley- they’re just wanna-bes when the Europeans want to lay on the luxury.
