Can We Believe It?
March 15th, 2009Posted in Skiing in the Tetons
The forecast, that is. The National Weather Service is predicting up to a foot of snow tonight for the Tetons. AND, up to a foot of snow tomorrow and possibly another 9″ tomorrow night.
That’s the good news. What’s the catch? Tomorrow, the temps are predicted to reach 38 degrees- in the mountains!- and winds up to 30 mph in the valleys, and gusting to 60 mph on the summits. Hmmmm.
We know the weather guys at the NWS offices in Riverton and Pocatello love to hype approaching weather systems, so maybe we should expect something lesser on their numbers. Nonetheless, I feel a little adrenaline surge whenever I see the weather guys posting winter storm warnings. Sometimes they get it right.
A word to the wise, plan your driving to get snowed in on the skiing side of all potential road closures!
