That Darn Delete Button

Yesterday evening a friend mentioned she had received three emails from Grand Targhee announcing the resort had picked up a foot of snow yesterday! I checked my inbox and I too had received three of the same emails. I already knew how good the skiing was during the day yesterday with nice light boot deep powder to be had by afternoon, but I was surprised to learn a bunch more snow must have tumbled from the sky in the late afternoon. I try to keep my email folders thin so I deleted Targhee’s excited emails.

This morning I eagerly checked Targhee’s snow report and- I gotta ask- where did the snow go? Now it appears only an inch fell after the lifts closed bringing the 24 hour total up to just 7″, well short of a foot. Hmmmm.

If I hadn’t been so fast to delete yesterday’s foot of new snow emails from Targhee, I’d peer at them carefully today! Was that a draft email that someone accidentally hit the send button on? Three times?

If I’m disappointed to have diminished expectations for today’s skiing, there is consolation in seeing that the Jackson side of the Tetons only got 2 inches, or did they accidentally leave out a “1″ in front of the “2″?

On the bright side, it appears it’s gonna a be a sunny morning, but cold, so the snow should be primo.

Afternoon Update: Today’s 7″ report proved to be on the money, and it was mighty fine snow; almost too light considering the shallow base underneath it, but it was great fun to ski such light snow! It was also great to see so many people enjoying it. Below is what passes for a crowd at Grand Targhee- even on a holiday powder morning!
